Not goodbye, but moving on.

Hello L'Arche Portland,

It has been an absolute honor to serve all of you these past few months in the role of Interim Community Leader and Executive Director. As I reflect on the time together, I am reminded of the song we often sing in community.

L'Arche Portland, you are BEAUTIFUL. I have been a witness to, and participated in so much laughter, tears and joy within this community. It is real and it is beautiful.

L'Arche Portland, you are STRONG. These are very difficult times. The financial insecurity we are currently facing creates tremendous anxiety within community living. It can be paralyzing to know how to move forward. Together, we are in action: Assistants supporting core members to understand the transitions. Volunteers and former assistants helping us to discern next steps. Families supporting our efforts. Donors stepping forward with large gifts. And a board that is more invested than any I have ever had the pleasure of working with. You are strongest together.

L’Arche Portland, you are WONDERFUL to be with. I have made so many memories and goofy mistakes along the way. Thank you for your tolerance and patience with me. You have carried me along.....on Disney sing-alongs, BBQs, licensing, hiring, and showing me the L'Arche Way.

L'Arche Portland you are loving song. Thank you for the gift of serving you. Now as I pass the torch, know that you are in good hands with each other, and with Julia Brown as the new Executive Director / Community Leader.

Onward and upward,

Jessica Leitner
